At Stroud Green we encourage healthy eating by providing a varied menu on a fortnightly rotation - designed in consultation with families and children - that changes each term. We run our own kitchens and as such the school meals are excellent and, perhaps because of that, the vast majority of children at Stroud Green eat school meals.
We have a split lunch break with three main serving times. Nursery eat first at 11.45am swiftly joined by Reception at 11.50am Our Infants (Years 1&2) eat between 12 - 1pm and Juniors (Years 3,4, 5&6) between 12.30 - 1.30pm. School meals cost £2.20 per day and present excellent value for money.
Since September 2013/14, the Government have made a commitment to provide all Infant children with Free School Meals - this will be reviewed at the end of each school year. Therefore, all infant children (except Nursery) will get a cooked meal everyday free of charge. Menus are sent home on newsletters each half term and displayed at the bottom of this website page. Please contact Sharon in the main office indicating your child's meal preference. Parents need to inform the school if their child moves from school lunches to pack lunch. Parents of Junior children are required to pay for the meals in advance.
If you think your child is entitled to free school meals we can easily check for you. Just come into the school office and ask Tara to check for you. You will simply need to National Insurance number and your date of birth for us to check for you. Being entitled to free school meals can help you access support with breakfast and after school club fees, and it also helps the school to get valuable Pupil Premium funding which can be used to support your child's learning.
